This page says what we collect, what we do with it, and what we don't do.
What we collect
- The free check: the answers you select, including base state, operating states, operating scope (across state lines or one state), cargo type, CDL status, a Clearinghouse question, fleet size, and truck weight. Running the check does not require an email address.
- The written report: if you ask for your results by email, we collect your email address along with those answers.
- The USDOT lookup: if you enter a USDOT number, we look it up against FMCSA's public carrier census data. That number and the public record it returns may be stored with your profile.
- Email you send us: if you write to hello@thefleetbrief.com, we keep the correspondence.
What we do with it
We use your answers to compute which rules and deadline programs apply to your fleet, and your email address to send you what you asked for — the written report, and the briefs or summaries you signed up to receive. That's the list.
We do not sell or rent your information. We do not share it with advertisers. As of the date above, there are no ad networks, analytics trackers, or tracking pixels on this site, and our pages set no cookies; the only third-party requests your browser makes are to Google Fonts (two Google-hosted domains), which serves this site's typefaces. If we add analytics or measurement tools later, this page says so first, with a dated note.
Email, and stopping it
Every email we send carries a one-click unsubscribe. Using it stops that email immediately. We keep unsubscribed addresses on a suppression list — that's what prevents us from ever emailing you again.
Outreach and marketing emails may include standard open and click tracking, which tells us what to stop sending. If you ever receive an outreach email from us at a business address you didn't give us, it came from publicly available business contact information. The unsubscribe works identically and we honor it permanently — and it ends the tracking along with the email.
Who touches the data
Service providers that run our infrastructure process data on our behalf: our application is hosted on Railway and our database on Supabase (both in the United States), transactional email is delivered by Resend, outreach email is delivered through our sending platform (Instantly), and our mailboxes run on Google Workspace. Each processes data only to provide its service.
Keeping it, deleting it
We keep your information while it's needed to provide what you signed up for. Want it gone? Email hello@thefleetbrief.com and we'll delete your information, keeping only your address on the suppression list so we don't contact you again.
