About The Fleet Brief

Chicago, Illinois · Publishing since August 2026

What this is

The Fleet Brief is an independent, founder-operated publication for fleets running 5–50 trucks. Software reads every rule, proposed rule, and notice FMCSA publishes in the Federal Register, every day. Dated state deadline programs in 22 covered states are checked against each state's own sources on a standing weekly review. What matters reaches readers as one short brief each Monday: what changed, whether it applies to your fleet, and what's due next.

Why it exists

A Federal Register issue runs 200-plus pages, most days more. FMCSA's rules are in there, next to everyone else's. For a small fleet, the part that matters might be one paragraph a week. Somebody has to find it. That's the job here.

Who runs it

The Fleet Brief is published by Rulebook Media LLC (Illinois). One editor runs this desk, with software doing the daily reading. AI helps draft and classify; every claim, date, and dollar figure is verified against its original official source before publication, and anything we get wrong goes in a public log. The full production process — the pipeline, the verification gate, and the miss guarantee behind it — is documented at How it's made.

What we are not

We are not lawyers, and this is not legal advice. We report what regulators have published, with dates and links, filtered to your fleet's profile. Decisions about your operation belong to you and, where it matters, qualified counsel.
